Stockport NHS Trust- Art on perscription
How does
it work? The course is run in stages with the first stage teaching basic drawing and
painting techniques. The second stage
teaches advanced painting techniques, allowing you to develop your own creative
direction. This is not art therapy and work
produced is not analysed.
Participation
in artistic activities can have a wide range of mental health benefits and
promotes well-being.
Being
able to concentrate on something absorbing can be relaxing and a distraction
from feelings of anxiety and distress.
Through
art you can discover new ways of looking at life.
What's
it about?
Stockport
Arts On Prescription is run by professional artists and health workers. It offers the opportunity to develop your art
skills in a flexible and supportive group environment. We welcome people with all levels of art experience
including complete beginners.
